It gots to be quick, but I thought you'd all like to know that mapquest now contains our address.

Lara has now had all writing utensils taken from her since she hid a bunch of crayons in one of her purses, put them in her room, and during nap pulled them out and drew pretty letters all over the wall. I'm glad I have some extra paint!! (Adena reincarnate - ? hmm... ;)

Julian is grabbing at things now. He tries to get them in his mouth, too, but with less success.

Hmmm... I think Lara needs to do some more serious damage before she can really earn the title "Adena reincarnate." She's on her way, but not quite there yet. What she really needs is plently of makeup and sharpies at her disposal. A fishtank would probably do her well, too.

Might be time for another "memories" post.

Yeah, to qualify she would need to use 3 of the 4 items Adena listed at one time; the sharpies could be for another time. To EXCEED Adena, she could use the sharpies at the SAME time and really do some serious damage. Of course, the sharpies are only truly effective if you have brand new wallpaper on your walls!

Okay, to clarify, I said 3 of the 4 items because the makeup must consist of powder AND lipstick!

Does lip gloss count? Cuz we gots some of that on the wall. Crayon on the downstairs windows. Marker on her sheets and blanket.
The best though, the kicker, is her favorite self-imposed task, and it's a little hard to name. She takes pieces of things--usually pieces from several puzzles, and generally ALL the pieces from those puzzles; or blocks; or play clothes-- sticks them in anything that has an inside, i.e. toy purses, toy airplane, plastic toy food crates, any bags laying around-- and leaves them places where I trip over or stumble on them in the middle of the night, and then can't find when I am trying to clean. She likes to take things apart, too. She pulled the tassles off my decorative pillows this morning. She took one of the dying flowers from feb14 and shredded it all over the table. She pulled the cork backing off one of my coasters. She decided she didn't want pillow cases on her pillows anymore, so those are on the floor. The guitar picks are all missing. There is smashed blueberry in the carpet. She almost poked Julian's eye out with a colored pencil (but hey, she knew what color it was!!). The list could go on for days...

Yeah, it sounds like you have your hands full. I wouldn't recommend you getting a fish tank any time soon ... say in the next 20 years!

I don't know what it is that makes her do that, except because she can. She really has no concept - until the damage is done - that she is actually destroying things that weren't meant to be destroyed, and even then, it doesn't really phase her. I think that was why I removed EVERYTHING from bedrooms because I couldn't stand it. If you remember, you didn't have a lot of stuff in your rooms; it was usually where you couldn't get it unless I gave it to you. I think I learned that as a result of working in a daycare center with kids who had NO guidance and no consequences to their actions.

I feel for you, but it will pass; not anytime soon, but it will pass. Just do what my mother did (who had 4 kids like that). Just repeat after me: "She's just a normal healthy kid, she's just a normal healthy kid!" It doesn't really help, but at least it will make you laugh so you don't kill her! :)

I especially hated play dough, followed by markers!

I'm excited that mapquest has your address. I don't remember if I told you but when we left your house I had the GPS on, and even though your address wasn't in it when I was trying to get there, it knew exactly where I was and even gave street names of when and where to turn! Piece of crap. Or I guess not, but whatever.

I think you should trade Lara in. And make sure Julian doesn't get any ideas from her.

I like to think of her in terms of Curious George. She just wants to figure out the world, and she's only 2. Maybe she's a little genius...
Incidentally, nobody ever thinks she's 2 . They all think she's at least 3.

I have to agree; she is very inquisitive and feels no inhibitions about following thru on her curiosities, and although that can be quite messy, it's also a good sign that she has an intelligent mind and an independent spirit that won't be satisfied to go with the flow. I think that, in the long run, that will work in her favor. Your greatest task will be to teach her self-control, and although that sounds daunting, her interactions with others who are less-than-happy with her curiosities will also help to teach her to restrain herself. Now if you can just survive the terrible twos... :)
